Unique friendship makes a splash in the local news

When my client, The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, shared with me that a group of residents owned robotic pets – I knew there was a story to tell.

In my conversation with the community life team, I learned that the residents received their robotic pets during the pandemic to combat loneliness. Then, after social distancing restrictions lifted, a small group of friends formed through their shared interest in their new robotic friend. Two residents even started planning a wedding for their pets.

Local News Coverage

I pitched a story about this unique sub-community at The Fountains to the local TV stations, as well as the Tampa Bay Times and a few hyperlocal publications. The resulting coverage included:

Tampa Bay Times | Robot pets help St. Petersburg seniors make friends

ABC Action News | 'Man's Best Friend' takes on new meaning at St. Pete Senior living community

The Gabber | In South Pasadena, Artificial Dogs, Cats Bring Real Joy

This heartwarming story highlighted a unique way residents found friendship at the community and showed prospective residents and adult children why Watermark Retirement Communities is a great place to live.
