Community gets national recognition for dog park

When The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods decided to build a dog park for its residents in 2019, I knew this was something we had to share with the local media. Many senior living communities don’t allow pets, and those that do don’t often roll out the red carpet for its four-legged residents. This amenity was a unique offering to residents, and a selling point for future residents.

Working with the community, we timed the grand opening of the “Paw Park” to fall on December 2, which is also National Mutt Day. Local TV station Sarasota News Network attended the event and shared a great story about the opening.

Local senior living community gifts residents new dog park

“This was such a great news piece. Thank you, Kasey for all your work promoting our dog park to the news stations. We had three prospects call the sales department and mention they saw us on the news.”

Peggy Beasley, Executive Director of The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods

In 2022, this story also landed on the national stage when an AARP Magazine reporter began working on a piece about senior living communities with dog parks for the magazine’s Livable Communities newsletter. The reporter found the SNNTV story in her research and reached out to schedule an interview with the team.

The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods (now Elancé at Sarasota) was featured in the May 2023 issue of AARP’s Livable Communities newsletter and on the magazine’s website:

Parks for People and Pups of All Ages

This is a great example of how local news coverage can be the catalyst for a larger national story.
